Nick Krautter is the author of The Golden Handoff: How to Buy and Sell a Real Estate Agent’s Business and a top Realtor since 2006 in the Portland, Oregon market. Nick is an avid golfer, writer, reader, talker, and still gets up early, excited about what each day holds.
“I wrote The Golden Handoff because when most agents retire they just throw away their business and all their years of hard work,” said Krautter. “I had already helped a handful of agents successfully transition out of real estate, and I was able to adopt and take care of their clients. The more I interviewed thought leaders in the real estate world, the more I was encouraged to write this book.”
In this episode, Karen and Nick discuss:
o Ask those who are slowing down on selling or retiring what they plan to do when leaving the business.
o Print out your database, go through person by person, and write down anything you can think of about those clients. This will give you a strong base to pass off your clients as well as for the new agent to reach out to serve them.
o Remember that every “lead” you work with is a person and treat them as such.
o The more you read, the more mentors you have, the more podcasts you listen to, the stronger your mental library for problem solving and serving your clients.
